Welcome

MacNut Farm is a family-owned macadamia orchard at South Head, Helensville — one of the oldest macadamia orchards in New Zealand, established in the early 1980s on a 105-acre dairy farm in West Auckland.

We grow predominantly the Beaumont variety — a hybrid macadamia known for its exceptional sweetness and buttery flavour. Unlike the Australian and Hawaiian varieties used in most commercial production, Beaumonts are a stickfast variety that must be hand-picked directly from the tree. Every nut is harvested by hand, packed on-site, and shipped to you fresh.

Helen and her daughter Flora run the orchard today, continuing a growing tradition that began over 40 years ago in the heart of Auckland's macadamia country.

About South Head Macadamia Orchard

MacNut Farm was established between 1980 and 1983, when 10,500 macadamia trees were planted across a 105-acre dairy farm at South Head, near Helensville. In 2008, MacNut World Group Ltd purchased the orchard and has grown and harvested from those same trees ever since — now mature and producing at their peak after more than 40 years in the ground.

The orchard grows predominantly the Beaumont variety — a hybrid macadamia prized for its superior flavour and hand-picked harvest. The Beaumont does not drop its nuts like most Australian and Hawaiian varieties, which means every nut must be picked by hand at exactly the right stage of ripeness. It is more labour-intensive than mechanical ground harvest, but the result is a fresher, better-tasting nut with no bruising and no ground contact.

We farm using spray-free, sustainable methods — no synthetic pesticides, no artificial fertilisers — caring for the soil, the trees, and the native birdlife that calls the orchard home.

Health benefits teaser

Why macadamia nuts?

Macadamia nuts are gluten free, dairy free, and suitable for keto, paleo, vegan, and plant-based diets. They are one of the richest dietary sources of monounsaturated fat — the same heart-healthy fat found in olive oil and avocados — and have the lowest net carbohydrate count of any commonly eaten nut.

A 30g serving provides meaningful amounts of thiamine (vitamin B1), magnesium, and manganese, with zero cholesterol and no added sugar in our natural and roasted varieties.
